Hill Farmstead Brewery

Collected Works

2016 Terms and Conditions

SUMMARY

Collected Works is the expression of our continued explorations in brewing beer in North Greensboro, Vt. It is a membership consisting of likeminded individuals who share our passion for experimentation and education in beer styles, flavors, ingredients, processes, and techniques.

Collected Works membership provides early and potentially exclusive access to the beers released by Hill Farmstead throughout the year. Collected Works members will have access to bottle conditioned and barrel-aged Farmstead ales, as well as barrel-aged and non-barrel aged imperial porters, stouts, barley wines, and more.

Collected Works members and Hill Farmstead Brewery are meant to exist in a symbiotic relationship.  Our goal is to generate goodwill between both the brewery and the members, providing a unique and rewarding experience for all. The Collected Works is a celebration of our collective efforts at Hill Farmstead and it allows us to share the fruits of our labors with those who appreciate and support us most.

Cost

Total cost for your membership is $100. All beers will be released at retail price to the membership through the Collected Works website. The $100 membership fee is a non-refundable administrative cost that guarantees you access to the Collected Works and its benefits.

Member Registration

Beginning on September 15, 2016, at 9:00 a.m. Eastern time, the membership registration request window will open (see big orange button on the bottom page of this page). For a $1.00 slotting fee, you will be entered into a pool for the opportunity to purchase a Collected Works membership.  This $1.00 slotting fee ensures us that you are committed to the idea of a Collected Works membership, and this fee will be donated entirely to support childhood education in the local community.  The membership registration request window will remain open until 5:00 p.m. Eastern time on September 22, 2016.

If selected from the pool, you will be notified by email on September 26, 2016 and you will have the opportunity to register for membership for the $100 membership cost. You must register your membership by 5:00 p.m. on September 28, 2016.  Membership will officially begin on October 1, 2016, lasting for 12 months until September 30, 2017.

Membership will be limited to a small quantity of individuals on an at-will, annual basis. This will be an intimate group of people who are dedicated to supporting the vision of Hill Farmstead Brewery.

Pick-Up Window

At the time of registration, each member will have the option to designate bottle pick-ups on a monthly, quarterly, or bi-annual basis.  Bottles will be released via our secure, member’s only website at the beginning of each month, and members have a two-week window for purchasing bottles that are allocated.  After the purchase window closes, monthly pick-ups will occur within the remaining two weeks of each month.  Quarterly pick-ups will occur during the first two weeks of December, March, June, and September.  Bi-annual pick-ups will be scheduled to occur during the months of March and September.

Please note: monthly releases are not guaranteed; as always, beer is released when it is deemed by the brewers to be at its optimum state. While we are confident that there will be ample opportunities for releases ongoing throughout the year, it’s essential that members understand the variable and temporal nature of the beers we hope to offer them and maintain expectations accordingly.

Pick-ups will be available Tuesdays through Fridays (no Saturdays) at Hill Farmstead Brewery [403 Hill Road, Greensboro, VT 05842] between the hours of 12 p.m. and 5 p.m.  Collected Works members will additionally have the opportunity to make retail purchases (growler fills, bottle sales, merchandise) on Tuesdays as well, a day that we are typically closed to the general public.

We encourage open communication with us about your intentions to pick-up your beers.  Failure to make a pick-up window for your membership without contact will result in a refund to your account for any beers purchased during that period, and the bottles will be returned to Hill Farmstead Brewery.  Missing two pick-up windows without contacting us during any club membership year will result in cancellation of club membership without refund.

Members must personally pick up the beer they purchase. No trustees may be assigned for initial members.  A member may earn the ability to designate a trustee after fulfilling two full terms of membership in good standing.

Each member must be 21 years and over and must present a valid state/federal issued identification at the time of pick up. All bottles will be purchased and pre-paid for online in advance. Your ID must match the information entered upon purchasing your bottles.

Membership Terms

A Collected Works membership and its benefits are personal, non-transferable, non-refundable, and are limited to first come-first served.

Each person is allowed to have a maximum of one and only one membership in Collected Works. If a member is found to have obtained multiple memberships, we reserve the right to cancel without refund the entirety of that individual’s membership(s).

All beer that is purchased through your Collected Works membership is for the purpose of consumption. Drink the beer, properly cellar the beer, enjoy the beer with your family and friends. Resale of beer by unlicensed individuals is illegal in the United States of America. Licensed retailers are prohibited from purchasing Collected Works beers as a member unless the beer is solely for personal consumption and not for resale or distribution. If any member is found to be reselling our beer, their membership will be canceled and no refund will be provided. If the Collected Works membership is abused in such a way where it is found that people are profiting from their access, the entire Collected Works membership may be subject to cancelation.

There are no guarantees regarding the number of varieties of beers that will be released in any given year, nor is there a guarantee regarding whether or not a particular variety of beer will or will not be released during the year. Some beers may be exclusive to the Collected Works, whereas some beers may go on-sale to the general public in the Retail Shop. Some beers may be subject to the same bottle limits as the general public, whereas some beers may have higher volumes allotted for Collected Works members. The point is that through the Collected Works membership you are provided the opportunity to purchase all specialty beers released if you have the interest in doing so.

Duration

Enrollment in the Collected Works is valid from October 1, 2016, through September 30, 2017. Any beer that is not picked up during a designated pick-up window will be refunded and the bottles will return to the possession of Hill Farmstead Brewery.

Right of First Refusal

Collected Works members in good standing at the end of this membership term will have the first right to refuse continued membership in the subsequent year. The number of memberships may or may not be subject to change in following years. Our intention is to allow each member the opportunity to re-enroll if they so choose within a specific one-month window before the end of the current membership year.  In August 2017, Collected Works members will receive an email with details about re-enrolling in the membership for the next year’s term.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Q: Why is there a random drawing in order to become a member?

A: We anticipate a larger demand for Collected Works membership than would be possible for it to operate.  Bottle inventory limits on some beers that will be released are such that in order to provide at least a two-bottle per person limit, Collected Works membership needs to remain a small and intimate group of people.  Overall, we want the experience to be the best possible for all parties involved, and by keeping Collected Works membership at reasonable levels through a registration system, we can best accomplish that goal.

We’re additionally requiring a $1.00 slotting fee for entering, acting as a gateway to ensure your commitment to the idea of a Collected Works membership.  This non-refundable $1.00 fee will be donated entirely to support childhood education in the local community.

Q: What beers do I get with my $100 membership fee?

A: There are no beers included automatically with the membership.  Instead, Collected Works gives you guaranteed access to Hill Farmstead beers.  As a member, you’ll be guaranteed the opportunity to purchase all Hill Farmstead specialty beer releases.  You will have the benefit to designate a pick-up option (monthly, quarterly, bi-annually) that is convenient for you, and you will receive expedited bottle pick up service.  When possible, you will be given early or exclusive or higher allocated access to our beers.  There may be other surprises and opportunities for club members throughout the membership term, however if you don’t see value in the $100 membership fee, we simply ask that you elect not to join Collected Works.

Q: Why do I have to purchase and pay for my beers before I can pick them up?

A: Paying for the beers at the time of purchase allows you to secure your bottle allocation, guaranteeing that you will be able to pick up your beer during your designated pick-up window.  Up-front payment removes any unnecessary transaction at the time of pick-up, creating an easy, seamless, and convenient way for you to receive your Collected Works beers.

Q: I live a long way from the brewery.  Why can’t I designate a trustee?

A: Without the imposition of trustees, the membership truly becomes a simpler and more intimate group of people who collectively experience a relationship together.  We will get to know you and you will get to know us.  Together, we’ll ensure that Collected Works is a special experience across the board, and we’ll be able to make certain that our beers are being consumed or shared appropriately within the membership.

Q: How many specific beers will be available to club members in any given year?

A: We don’t have an accurate prediction on how many beers will be available for release in any given year.  The beer dictates what is available at any specific point in time.  Please consider our track record when it comes to limited and specialty beer releases in the past, and you can anticipate a release schedule along these same lines.

Q: Is there a membership limit per household/billing address?

Yes. One (1) entry per person (household or credit card) and one (1) membership per household. Note, if you share an address with someone else entering, please be sure to use a separate credit card and email address to ensure entries are validated. Duplicate entries will be deleted.

Q: What should I do if I notice that someone is attempting to or is reselling Collected Works beers?

A: We hope to promote a Collected Works membership that is self-policing and self-regulating.  If you have any information or evidence that someone is reselling Collected Works beers, or if someone is otherwise abusing their membership, please contact us and inform us of the situation.  Any information will remain confidential and anonymous and will be absolutely welcomed and appreciated.

Q: How do I renew my membership?

A: Collected Works members will receive an email in August 2017 detailing the membership renewal process.

Q: What if I can’t make it for a scheduled pick up?

 A: Please contact hfbcollectedworks@gmail.com.
