Alchemist and Hill Farmstead Release Flood Relief IPA
100% of Proceeds will go to Vermont Flood Relief
The Alchemist Brewery and Hill Farmstead Brewery — two of America’s most acclaimed breweries — are joining forces on a beer to raise funds for Vermont flood relief. The new beer will be available exclusively at the Alchemist in Stowe and at Hill Farmstead in Greensboro beginning August 4.
This collaboration, long-awaited by beer lovers, is borne out of the deep affection the owners of both breweries have for each other and Vermont. John and Jen Kimmich, founders of the Alchemist, and Hill Farmstead owner Shaun Hill have collaborated for years to advance the independent craft brewing industry in Vermont.
The special-edition beer, available in limited quantities for a limited time, is being created in response to the devastating floods that struck Vermont on July 10. The funds raised, approximately $65,000, will be distributed to a variety of statewide flood relief funds, including the Vermont Community Foundation’s VT Flood Response & Recovery Fund 2023, Capstone’s small business-focused Vermont Main Street Flood Recovery Fund, and NOFA’s Farmer Emergency Fund.
The Vermont Flood Relief IPA is an American IPA conceived and created to showcase each brewery’s iconic and pioneering flavor profiles within an intentional, harmonious representation of the deep and abiding friendship shared between our breweries. Each version of the beer is unique.
“Tens of thousands of Vermonters have lost their homes and their livelihoods from the flooding. We want to do everything we can to help provide resources and support the recovery of this beautiful state that means so much to all of us,” notes Jen Kimmich, Alchemist co-founder and CEO. Co-founder and head brewer John Kimmich says, “Our customers and Hill Farmstead’s customers have been so loyal and supportive of us over the years – we know they will come out and buy this beer to help their neighbors.”
Says Hill Farmstead founder Shaun Hill, “We are living in unprecedented times with unpredictable circumstances. The people, the places, and the businesses that we love and constitute our Vermont have been crippled. Business has a responsibility to give back and support the continued resilience of the people that form the foundations of its community. This effort with Jen, John, and the Alchemist team is one of many ways that we are committed to our communities and the continuing recovery efforts.”
