𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿 • 𝗚𝗲𝗼𝗿𝗴𝗲
Sparks of spring can be found across the Northeast Kingdom, and despite the lack of leaves, there’s greenery on its way. We’ll debut a new localized pale lager this week, as well as welcome back George, our American Brown Ale, to the can coolers and draft lines.

Guests in our taproom will also notice some new non-alcoholic offerings, including Einbecker Non-Alcoholic Pilsner, Hitachino Nest: Yuzu Ginger Beer, and a selection of all-natural sodas from Baladin!

𝗩𝗲𝗿𝗺𝗼𝗻𝘁 𝗣𝗮𝗹𝗲 𝗟𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗿

This Vermont-centered pale lager was brewed with Vermont-grown barley, malted by Valley Malt, and hopped solely with Nugget and Cascade hops grown by Champlain Valley Hops. Naturally carbonated and lagered for more than 10 weeks, we believe that this beer emphatically demonstrates the possibilities of a localized agricultural community.

𝗔𝗹𝘀𝗼 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽

The bottled selections will include the following: Nordic Saison, Self-Reliance: Nelson Sauvin, Damon Riserva One and Two (sold by the two-bottle set), Daybreak, Biere de Norma 2019, Civil Disobedience Blend 37, Wheat Blanc, Anna, Arthur, Brother Soigné, Florence, Charlie, Charlie: Raspberry, and Clara.

We also offer a range of Kindeli wines (along with a Kindeli wine-by-the-glass in our taproom).

Our can coolers will also feature Citra IPA, Harlan, Conduct of Life, Double Motueka, Double Nelson, Marie, and Mary.

Again, thank you to everyone who joined us on Eclipse Monday! We return to our regularly scheduled hours this week: Wednesday through Saturday, 11:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Joining our bottle shop line-up—and Scoot, our new friend and delightfully amenable guest model—will be the return of both Nordic Saison and Self-Reliance: Nelson Sauvin.

We’ll also restock our can coolers and draft lines with three additional offerings: Harlan, Citra Single Hop IPA, and Double Nelson.

𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗰 𝗦𝗮𝗶𝘀𝗼𝗻

In May of 2014, our friend and mentor, Anders Kissmeyer, visited Hill Farmstead Brewery, along with our dear friend Will Meyers of Cambridge Brewing Co., to brew a special collaborative beer. Inspired by our guests and their journeys, we continue to brew this beer with the resourcefulness and inventiveness of the Nordic tradition, as well as the creative spirit of its three architects. This Nordic-inspired Farmstead® ale is brewed with Vermont wildflower honey, organic heather flowers, organic rose hips, and American hops, a cross-border representation of friendship and shared visions.

𝗦𝗲𝗹𝗳-𝗥𝗲𝗹𝗶𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲: 𝗡𝗲𝗹𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗦𝗮𝘂𝘃𝗶𝗻

By a stroke of serendipity, this week’s addition to our Self-Reliance series of Farmstead® single-hop India pale ales will mirror our freshly packaged Double IPA canned offering.

Self-Reliance: Nelson Sauvin was brewed with hand-selected Nelson Sauvin hops grown by Freestyle Hops— our agricultural partner in Upper Moutere, New Zealand

We have quite a week ahead! This recent spring storm will create challenges for Eclipse Monday, but we’re all optimistic that the clouds will part for the viewing. We’ll have freshly packaged cans of Edward, Conduct of Life, and Double Motueka beginning Monday (a slight delay in availability for Conduct of Life and Double Motueka, as they will be packaged between 9 and 11, respectively).

A reminder that viewing the Eclipse with us at the brewery is by 𝗽𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗻𝗹𝘆, and we are fully booked at this time. Especially with this week’s storm, we can only accommodate a limited number of cars. See some important notes below about the week ahead, and thanks for your understanding.

𝗠𝗼𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘆

On Monday, we will open the Retail Shop for to-go orders only from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This is for non-reservation holders to stock up and head out to alternative viewing locations. Due to the day's demands, we will not be offering growler fills during this time, and all non-reservation vehicles will need to be moved following purchases.

From 12:30 until 5 p.m., the Retail Shop will be available for our Eclipse guests, with growler fills available after 4 p.m.

We will close the taproom and bottle shop from 3:15 - 3:45 so the entire staff can experience the Totality with our guests.

𝗧𝘂𝗲𝘀𝗱𝗮𝘆 - 𝗦𝗮𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗱𝗮𝘆

Retail hours will be 11:30 a.m. - 5 p.m. the remainder of the week (no reservations or special notes).

𝗥𝗲𝘁𝗮𝗶𝗹 𝗦𝗵𝗼𝗽

We’ll have a full slate of bottles and cans available throughout the week, so check our retail page for updated availability on Sunday afternoon.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗘𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲: 𝗪𝗲𝗮𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗣𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗶𝗻𝗴

As you can see from these photos, we were the "lucky" recipients of quite a lot of snow—which would be lovely in January, but in early April, a few days ahead of a massive event, it's less than ideal!

We will continue to evaluate conditions through Sunday, but we don't anticipate being able to open additional parking at this time for Monday's Eclipse viewing. That said, if you can be dropped off and don't have a vehicle onsite, join us! That doesn't mean "park down the road and walk up," though! The roads will be narrow enough with snow/mud, so it will present a public safety issue if people park along the edges of the backroads.

We want to emphasize that we can't accommodate more vehicles than what we've planned for with reservations, and we will need to turn people away from staying for the event. Those of you who come out during the 9:30 - 12:30 retail shop hours will need to move along to alternative viewing locations (a few are below!).

Ahead of Eclipse week, we’ll debut four new bottles and freshly packaged cans of Song of Spring, Three Magic Letters, Society & Solitude #3, and Marie this coming week. Limits will be in place on these new bottles to ensure that they will be available through the end of Eclipse week (13 April). Damon Riserva
On occasion, a unique and revelatory blend emerges by happenstance, one that excels unexpectedly and sets itself apart from what we have come to know as
Damon. Thus, a Riserva selection emerges.

For Riserva One, an element rested in Bourbon barrels from our favorite distillery for 30 months, while another, smaller portion spent more than two years in similar Bourbon barrels, then an additional 40 months in freshly emptied Tawny Port barrels.

For Riserva Two, a portion of the blend—brewed in 2015—rested in Bourbon barrels from our favorite distillery for nearly four years and then for an additional two years in freshly emptied Tawny Port barrels; the second portion represents a singular selection that spent more than two years in Bourbon.

Juicy: Gin Barrel-Aged
This beer is intended as a symbolic testament to the vivid memories of the spirited inhabitants and friendships formed nearly 20 years ago. Following a brief residency conditioning in barrels that previously held Caledonia Spirits Tom Cat gin, the beer that we have referred to as Juicy since 2012 is now ready to be enjoyed.

Daybreak
Some may remember Daybreak, an imperial stout brewed with organic citrus zest. Originally brewed in 2011, this rebrewed version of our original collaborative adventure resulted from the creative friendship between two transatlantic travelers.

𝗗𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝗕𝘂𝗺 • 𝗘𝘃𝗲𝗿𝗲𝘁𝘁 • 𝗘𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝘀

This coming week, we’ll have freshly packaged cans of our Simcoe-focused IPA, Dharma Bum, along with Everett on draft and for growlers to-go (no cans). Our direct-to-consumer sale has completed, and those boxes will begin shipping on Wednesday and Thursday of this coming week.

𝗘𝗰𝗹𝗶𝗽𝘀𝗲 𝗨𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲
The Total Solar Eclipse is fast approaching, and Vermont’s spring remains as unpredictable as ever. We’re all hoping for clear skies on the day of, but we’re sure to have some typical Vermont weather beforehand (including a foot of snow this weekend!). Parking spaces will be our primary limiting factor, and current field conditions are highly questionable.

Weather permitting, we’ll open additional overflow parking in one or two of our fields. However, to avoid permanent damage, we won't allow parking in the fields if field conditions dictate. We must limit parking because of the time of year and the weather this spring.

If conditions permit, we will open more parking reservations closer to the event, of course, so stay tuned for updates as the weather forecast becomes clearer!

This Friday, 22 March 2024, we will again open our webshop for home delivery purchases. For this offering, we will offer a fixed six-bottle box of our Farmstead® ales to be delivered to your home. Due to licensing, these will be available to residents of the District of Columbia, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Vermont, and Virginia.

This sale will feature a box with the following: Anna, Arthur: Plum, Biere de Norma 2019, Civil Disobedience Blend 37, Self-Reliance: Nelson Sauvin, and Wheat Blanc. There is a limit of one box per customer.

At Noon EST on Friday, our webshop (shop.hillfarmstead.com) will open. As with previous sales, we will use our electronic pre-queue and waiting room system, which opens at 11:45 a.m. ET (15 minutes before the sale goes live). When you sign into the pre-queue, you’ll join everyone for the sale. The time when you sign into the pre-queue will not impact your order in the queue. As the sale opens, people will be randomly added to an order queue, moved to the waiting room, and brought into the shop to make purchases.

We will ship orders on Wednesday and Thursday, 27 and 28 March.

As Spring Equinox approaches, we have several updates and new offerings this coming week. A re-release of Clover, this time in 750ml bottles, and a new entry in our Nonconformist collection to greet the spring. Cans of Of First & Last Things and Excursions: HBC 586/Phantasm return to our can coolers, along with the overlong return of Society & Solitude #7 (no cans, growlers only).

𝗖𝗹𝗼𝘃𝗲𝗿
Occasionally, we will fill multiple formats of bottles as part of our ever-curious endeavors. In this instance, we packaged a blend of Ann, Art, and Flora barrels, each of which had been resting for between 16 and 27 months, for sharing in the 750ml format. Some of you may have enjoyed this by the glass onsite or tasted the recent 375ml release of this same packaging.

While quintessentially Clover, this 750ml format presents a novel opportunity to observe its development—in this case, we anticipate many great years of progression. Following four years of monitored conditioning, we now share one of our most cherished offerings in a novel fomat. This will be a 1 bottle per person limit for the duration of the release.

𝗡𝗼𝗻𝗰𝗼𝗻𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝟭𝟬
This, our tenth entry, arrives just in time for spring. Comprised of Florence and Wheat Blanc, the composition was aged in a white wine barrel for 15 months and then atop organic strawberries from Adam’s Berry Farm in Charlotte, Vt. This beer was bottled and allowed over a year of development and rest.

Bill “Spaceman” Lee—legendary Red Sox and Expos pitcher, bon vivant, and dear friend of the brewery—stopped by earlier this week to sign a few copies of his books, which we’ll have on sale in our retail shop’s little used book niche! Sporting his Savannah Bananas gear and on his way to teach a batting skills course to some local kids, Bill was kind enough to sign some books and tell a few tales—for which we’re eternally grateful and ceaselessly delighted. Conveniently enough, his visit coincided with the release of his favorite beer, Society & Solitude #6, so he didn’t leave empty-handed (you can check out the display cans in the taproom, too, that sport his stamp of approval).

Aside from the charming yarn-spinning of our favorite left-hander, we have a personally selected collection of used books to purchase when you visit, each of which is chosen to inspire, enlighten, and spark thoughtful conversation.

Out like a lion, in like a lamb, March is upon us with the reemergence of some familiar pre-Spring things: rising temperatures, running sap, and Biere de Norma. This week, we’ll also have freshly packaged cans of Foster, Harlan, and Society & Solitude #6 in our retail shop.

𝗕𝗶𝗲𝗿𝗲 𝗱𝗲 𝗡𝗼𝗿𝗺𝗮 𝟮𝟬𝟭𝟵
To honor Shaun’s maternal grandmother, we craft this Biere de Mars and condition it in oak barrels with our resident microflora, allowing it to develop indefinitely until it is ready for release. Packaged in 2019, this bottling of her namesake beer has been closely observed as part of our long-ranging extended bottle-conditioning examination. It has surpassed our expectations and continues to exhibit celestial finesse and prolonged determination.

We realize the influence of those closest to us only after having left their presence. At Hill Farmstead, our spirit is forever defined by Norma and the memory of our loved ones.
