Retail Update for 1 April 2023

American Lager • OFLT • Double Riwaka

To truly embrace a Vermont existence is to lean into the promise of spring, as optimistic and complicated as it is each year. Snow flurries, a little mud, and blissful moments of warm sunshine denote the eventual arrival of summer. As the land wakes from its slumber in fits and starts, we draw energy within that seasonal shift so that the bumps in the road are a little more joyful and the journey itself is far more rewarding.

Simultaneously celebrating the memory and prospects of warm days and successful harvests, we offer a new lager for enjoyment in the taproom and for growlers to go: American Lager. We’ll also have freshly packaged cans and draft of Of First & Last Things and Double Riwaka, in its 16 oz. can debut.

American Lager

Brewed entirely with organic malt from The Martens Farm and Lakeview Organic Grain in Penn Yan, N.Y., and malted by Valley Malt, we aimed for a light, refreshing, and well-rounded beer, whose qualities are accentuated by its two months of cold, wood conditioning.

Lakeview Organic Grain is owned and operated by Mary-Howell and Klaas Martens, who have been farming organically since the early ‘90s. They now farm organic corn, soy, spelt, barley, wheat, triticale, oats, rye, red kidney beans, cabbage for sauerkraut, and hay.

Cans and growlers:

  • Of First & Last Things – IPA brewed with hand-selected Motueka™ and Nelson Sauvin from our agricultural partner Freestyle Hops in New Zealand, as well as our 2022 selection of Simcoe® hops from Yakima Valley Hops.
  • Double Riwaka – Double IPA brewed exclusively with personally selected Riwaka hops from our agricultural partner, Freestyle Hops, in New Zealand.
