To Sing Our Song of Summer
While we had shared with you Song of Spring in years past, we’d never continued the natural progression and seasonal journey through the entirety of the year. This will be the year!
A few weeks ago, we sent some organic wheat from our neighbors Seth and Jeannette Johnson at Morningstar Farm in Glover to Valley Malt to be malted in its fully organic operation (note the paper bags, which we love!). Today, we pulled from our 2021 stock of Centennial, Chinook, and Cascade hops from Whitefield Hop Yard in nearby Hardwick, and—with some special in-person assistance from their grower Kevin Broderick—we brewed a buoyant, aromatic American pale ale.
With ingredients from within 10 miles of the brewery, we assemble our Song of Summer for you, to celebrate the fleeting Northeast Kingdom summer and the harvest of season past. This new beer should emerge in about three weeks—just in time for peak Vermont summer splendor!
