Retail Update for 14 October 2023

Poetica 2 • Shirley Mae • Susan • Double Nelson • Final Food Vendor for the Season

Thank you to everyone who joined us the last two weeks for the Samuel release. So many familiar, friendly faces! While we’re moving closer to stick season, there is still some foliage to be enjoyed, and we’ll celebrate the waning autumn days with the return of another of our oak-conditioned lagers alongside a team favorite for nitro pours onsite and refreshed can offerings.

In our final week of food vendors for the season, Smokin’ Joe’s will join us on Friday and Saturday! There is no vendor on Wednesday or Thursday, so feel free to bring along your own food, and we’ll have cheese and olive selections available on those two days.

Poetica 2

For this entry in our Poetica collection, we brewed Mary, our German-style pilsner, with a single decoction mash process, our sourced German Hersbrucker hops, and then lagered in our French oak puncheons. After three months of conditioning, the beer was moved to a tank for further conditioning and slow carbonation; we present you with a beautifully softened, refined, and elevated representation of Mary. This will only be available to enjoy onsite (no growlers at this time).

Shirley Mae

Shirley Mae (1936 – 2015) was Edward’s niece, daughter of Everett, and a beloved supporter of her family and Hill Farmstead. In her honor, this American session version of our Everett porter is crafted from American malted barley, English and German roasted malts, American hops, our ale yeast, and water from our well, then conditioned additionally on fresh cacao nibs—sourced and roasted by Colombia’s Tibito Chocolate and imported by Maine’s In situ Food Co.—and organic Madagascar vanilla beans.

Chocolate, vanilla, and light malty sweetness, this ale embodies her ebullient and generous spirit—a fitting tribute.
