Retail Update for 3 January 2024
Damon: Dandelion • Juicy
On the eve of the eve, we wish each of you a safe, fulfilled, and joyous conclusion to 2023. To usher in the new year, we welcome a new instance of Damon and the return of our New Zealand-inspired Farmstead® ale, Juicy.
Damon: Dandelion Chocolate
Damon (1993 – 2004) was Darren and Shaun’s furry, four-legged brother—devout and patient in an age of busyness and distraction. From time to time, in his honor, we craft a rich, balanced imperial stout and then age it in Bourbon barrels from our favorite distilleries.
For this particular version of his namesake beer, we chose a few barrels of Bourbon barrel-aged beer that dates back to November 2019 and has aged for nearly four years before conditioning them further atop cocoa nibs from Hacienda Azul in Costa Rica, sourced, roasted, and winnowed by one of the finest bean-to-bar producers in the world: Dandelion Chocolate in San Francisco, Calif.
Juicy
Juicy is inspired by Shaun’s first trip to New Zealand in 2004, which brought forth a recipe developed shortly after his return. Guided by the landscape and the viniculture, of a young man’s first impression of Sauvignon Blanc, and a distinct terroir, this beer is intended as a symbolic testament to the vivid memories of the spirited inhabitants and friendships formed nearly 20 years ago. Following eight months of conditioning in wine barrels with our resident microflora, the beer we have referred to as Juicy since 2012 is now ready to be enjoyed.
